Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

Hi all! I get to join this thread! I got a positive test yesterday, so we are tentatively expecting number five in January! we were not trying, but not really preventing either...I am surprised it happened so quickly, though, since this was only the second time I've ovulated since my 15 month old was born. lol. guess it was meant to be! I'm excited to get to know you all!
Congratulations!

I'm new to this thread. I've skimmed around on it a few times reading different posts. I'm not pregnant yet but will be trying in a couple of weeks.

So far I've bought an ovulation kit and the gummy prenatal vitamins. I do know I need to get an iron and calcium vitamin to go with it.

I am a little bit worried cause I've been with my husband for almost 8 years and I've never once used BC pills or condoms. We did try to avoid getting pregnant and were careful. I am irregular half of the time usually from stress or change of diet. Luckily the past 4 months I've been right on time so hopefully I won't have any problem.

Did anyone else have any problems getting pregnant when you started trying?

Welcome to our thread! Hope you get preggo quickly! Don't freak out too much about vitamins, etc. I didn't take any with my 1st one b/c I was so sick the whole time. I'm just taking regular chewy ones this go around and my doc says that's good enough. Baby will take whatever it needs.

It took me 7 month the first go around, partially b/c I had been on Depo for a long time and it took a few months for me to have a regular cycle, so I gues it only took me 3-4 months once my cycle was regular. This go around I was off BC for 7 months, but was "avoiding" getting preggo, then got preggo the first month that we actually tried. Good luck and don't stress too much - I think stress plays a big role in people not conceiving.

When is the best time after you become pregnant to start setting up doctor visits?

When it came around the 16-22 weeks did anyone take the amniocentesis test or just not mess with it? I'm wondering if I should have it done or not. I do know the risks but my husband has an aunt that has some seizures once in a while that caused some problems and he has another aunt that has children that have schizophrenia and one that is mildly slow. My husband is wanting to have it done just caused he is worried and would feel better knowing what to be prepared for.

Did anyone have a problem with their husband when it came to picking out baby names? Every name I come up with he has some reason we can't use it even if it is a name he likes too. I am actually shocked by how much history he knows about a person's name. I'm afraid we will end up using the name William for a boy cause both our dad's names are that. I don't really like the name and around here about everyone has that name. I don't want an overused name just cause both of our dads have it. He doesn't even really like the name either. I would rather pick an uncommon name. His mom's side of the family seem to name each son after themselves and then you have to start describing which one you're talking about by saying big or little.

I think the name picking will be the hardest part of a pregnancy for us. My husband is about to end up with my foot with all the name problems he is causing. He will say he likes a name but then later say he wouldn't use it for his child though after I put it down on our baby name list as a possibility. The name Archer was on that list and I thought about it overnight and actually liked it quite a bit but then when I asked him about using it he said no.

last time around we had a name before we even knew that I could have a child.
this time around... nope. He seems to want to name the baby after his motorbike, which would be thundercat or thunderace... um... NO!
I want to give the baby a Welsh name.

So we'll see. If it turns out we're having a boy, I can tolerate "Taran" which is Welsh for Thunder, so maybe we'll compromise.
He won't even consider names for a girl because he's convinced I'm having a boy again.

We do both agree we don't want to give the child the same name as everyone else... In my class of 25 children when I was in school, there were 4 girls with the name Nicola. And 2 boys called Jason, 2 called Christian, and 3 called Mark. So I'll be looking up what the most popular names recently are and avoiding them.

Naming is difficult!

Oh, and I've refused to have the nuchal scan or amnio-whatsit because all it would acheive is making me worry. I'll love my child whether they have a condition or not, so why waste time and risks on a test that doesn't make any difference to me?

We never could get pregnant and so moved on to adoption once the treatments started to get ridiculou$$$. We adopted and now have a two and a half year old and are waiting to adopt again. But the wait is killing me. I just feel like it will be really long and meanwhile our little girls is all about baby baby baby baby... I just wanted a big family and here we are...
It is what it is I suppose. I guess my point is that if you dont get pregnant in six months go straight to a doctor, don't delay. We wasted SO much time thinking 'oh maybe next time.' it seems weird to post it here but 1 in 8 couples struggle with infertility these days and it is a BRUTAL thing to go through! I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. And make sure he gets tested at the same time as you to rule out any male-factor.

My husband got a cold yesterday which I'm wondering if it will cause any delays but we will probably still try.

My MIL has been thinking we just haven't gotten pregnant cause he was around her when she was having radiation treatment for cancer. She tried to tell him to go to a friends house but he wouldn't when she was going through the treatment.

I guess we will find out once we start trying. In a way I hope I get pregnant next month instead of this month cause the due date will be in the beginning of Feb. Around that time we get horrible ice storms with power outages. I'm afraid of going into labor and can't make it to the hospital (30 minutes away) or be unable to call anyone if my husband is at work to come help with a home delivery. I'll probably make sure I have a bag with everything in it for a home delivery including instructions just incase. My FIL will be down the road so I'll have him check in on me every day especially if the phone doesn't work. He has gotten some practice with midwife and hospital runs with the Amish around here going into labor.

I haven't posted here in a while. I posted a long time back about being pregnant with number 2, and then discovering it was a miscarriage from the get go. (I even made a joke to my OB when I saw the ultrasound about how many underdeveloped chicken eggs I had candled to know that was never going to hatch!)

I got pregnant again a couple months later, in November. We lost her at 22 weeks gestation. I was really excited to have another little girl, and for my daughter to have a little sister. I'm 38, and not young in the eyes of OB/GYNs, and am considering trying again, but am scared out of my mind. I really don't want my daughter to NOT have a sibling, but not sure I am in the frame of mind to decide to try again, or not. Just really scared of having another loss, but am sad about not being able to give my daughter a baby brother or sister.
