Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

my doctor explained the risk of amniocentesis and I felt that was a stupid risk to take, especially since I dont have a family history of downs and I am not in the high risk age group.

what is FMLA?

I am still hoping for mothers day weekend, but I would take an easter baby too! The sooner the better (sort of) cause I am looking forward to meeting this little man who seems to be outgrowing my belly. I could feel him yesterday moving like he was stretching, nice slow pushes instead of quick jabs.

Well, it will not hold up as well as the symphony. The Symphony is made to last years of constant use. But I can tell you that my Purely Yours went through me (nursed 28 months) and two of my sister in laws. (New pump kits of course). The Pump in Style (which is MEdela's purchase pump similar to the Symphony) or the Purley yours would be the way to go, especially if you are thinking of more children later. They will easily handle it and are much more portable.

As far as the pain, I wonder if you had the suction to high. Or another common problem would be the flanges are to small. That is another difference between the Medela and Ameda. The Medela has a way to buy larger flanges and change them out. IF your nipples are large enough to rub along the side of the flanges, you probable need a larger size.

I personally liked the Purely Yours better, but most of the women I worked with preferred the Pump in Style.

I did have a problem with the flanges being too small and went back to get bigger ones. After looking at the price of both pumps we have been talking about here, I am seriously considering buying the Purley yours due to the price but am wondering if any of my old personal parts( Medela tubes, flanges and all that stuff I forgot ) will interchange with the Purley yours of do I have to buy all new ones?

They don't really, but I have done it in a pinch. If you do it, you risk milk backing into the pump, so watch closely that it does not start going into the tubes. Is the pump in style that much more than the Purely Your now? I haven't priced in a while. If you think you need larger flanges and the price is close, I would go for the Medela. (You may need even larger ones this time. I think pumping stretches the nipples out lol. Most women end up going up a size!)

Funny, just looked up Mothersday 2011, looks like it's on May 8th. I'm due May 14th, but Baby is measuring a week early, Doc doesn't want to change due date, just expects a little bigger baby, but if he did come a week early that would be MOTHERS DAY!

Would be nice to be a mommy on Mothers day.

I think you are right, my nipples seem lots bigger than last time but you know how memory works with mothers and it was 3 and a half years ago lol.
It is about $60 or $70 difference in price but I only looked at a few websites. Right now, that is a big difference since my DH is not working.

Wow!! I'm due May 28-31st (depending on which ultrasound you go by)! That's only about two weeks after you! So I may be delivering on Memorial Day! It's also ironic in the extreme... My DH and I are both in the Army.

Lets keep our fingers crossed...

We're guessing that I'm due September 17. Won't know for sure until I see my Dr. Won't have that first appt until March 9 because she likes her patients to be between 12 and 13 weeks before the first visit.
