Hello to everyone. I'm late joining since I due sometime in the next few weeks but thought I'd hang out here till then anyway. A little about me, this is my 4th baby. I have 2 boys ages 5 and 3 and I lil girl 1.5. I do all mine labors naturally and have never had an U/S so I don't know what I am having. I have always used a midwife so I get a lot of information, I can answer just about any question thrown at me so ask away. After reading all 170+ posts I am updated on everyone else’s pregnancy. Congratz to you all and enjoy it, I love being pregnant.

Also to Kelsey, be patient and hang in there, trust me it will all be over soon. You will like to know that when you start having contractions at night that give up when the sun comes up( or in your case midnight), it is totally normal and can go on like that for days, with my daughter I was like that for a week (she was 10 days late) just try and sleep anyway you will NEED the rest for labor. Also you wanted an exam to tell you how dilated you are. All women start out at 1 -2 cn so if you were to have an exam, that is exactly what you will find. No one starts labor at 0 because the mucus plug makes up that difference. Honestly you don't want an exam, they are very uncomfortable this late in the game and you risk giving the baby an infection. Hang in there I am right there with you!

Hi! welcome to the thread! I can't believe you read the entire thing! such dedication!

ya, I was uncomfortable after the dr checked me last time....I could tell she had messed with my cervix for an hour or so after. But I was hoping that might stimulate something too

I might be changing my mind about the epidural, at 1st I definately wanted one, but after doing some reading about the steps and progression of labor, I may try to stick it out. Of course, I will know better when I actually start going into labor since this is completely unknown territory for me.

good luck kelsey, hope the next few days we get some relief or a baby boy!

Epidural for me is a HUGE no go if I can avoid them. It's the needle in the spine issue. So far, water birth has more than made up for any pain that would be reduced/removed by an epidural and no needle in my spine.

With twins, I think I lose out this time. Phooey.

You guys have mentioned water birth before.. I'm thinking I might bring it up to my Dr when time gets a little closer. Is it just the warm temp that seems to ease away the pain of labor, or what? Because good gracious, I'm all for the no shot in my spine thing too! I cringe when they draw my blood

although i'm not a mommy-to-be, nor do i ever expect to be, i love the whole amazing process! there are actually some amazing videos on youtube of many types of birth. water birth is a wonderful way to go, and seems to be a much calmer birthing experience for mother and baby. if i ever do have children (i'm 32, still a possibility

) i think a natural water birth will be my way to go. i wish all you moms-to-be a wonderful birthing experience, no matter how you go about it! everyone is different, after all.

Yeah, I had to be checked a few times late in pregnancy with my second son, and I was hoping it would stimulate something but nope. They just take there own sweet time. After being ten days late with my daughter, I am not even thinking about "when" this time. I just listen to my body as I go through warm up contractions. I am so ready to have my lungs back though lol. I completely understand why you would want an epidural it is a very intense experience but so worth the pain for me. As far as water births go, I thought I was going to love it because I am such a water person, but honestly I couldn't stand it. It puts so much pressure on me when I'm in a big contraction that I get claustrophobic

I really like squating during pushing, I get a better feel of where the baby is and how to push.
