Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

I think we'll wait until at least 10-12 weeks to tell. I may tell a very close friend, though.

This is my first pregnancy where I'm gardening heavily and caring for chickens. We bought chickens when DD#2 was a baby. So I am the one who cleans the coop, feeds them etc. Is there any special precaution to take when cleaning out the coop? I always wear a good dust mask and gloves. And I am the primary gardener here, too. Is there any issue with me rototilling? I wouldn't think so, but just wanted to see what you all thought. I'll start wearing gloves when weeding, digging, etc. Hope you don't mind these silly questions!! I'd rather be safe than sorry!

I did all my "normal" duties while I was pregnant. As long as you wear the mask and wash your hands I don't think there's any problem with it.

X2! Although one thing I was asked NOT to do by my OBGYN was not to lift more than 50 lbs at a time (feed bags, or soil bags). In the first trimester they say it is not safe, and later can stress/pull your round ligaments.

That's a good way to do it, and how we've done it with both of my pregnancies.

I wouldn't worry about doing your normal duties; I think the problems arise when you try to start something new while pregnant. I don't see any risk from gardening and taking care of your chickens though. I still carry around feed bags, etc although I try to avoid it when possible... I mostly have to be cautious about the way I carry them because my belly gets in the way!!

Yup. Just about everything I did before I do now and haven't had any issues. My Dr actually said it was good for me to continue doing gardening, critter care, mowing grass, etc. because it's really good exercise. You just have to keep yourself hydrated.

Thanks guys! Glad to hear cleaning out the coop isn't a big deal. I'd have to hire someone to clean it out, if I wasn't supposed to.

I'm sure hubby would do it, but there'd be some grumping!

When I'd had the miscarriage right before DD#2 came along, I did not appreciate everyone's responses. Some people were sensitive and kind and others were very much less than. I probably wouldn't have told so early with DD#2, but we were sitting with hubby's family when the midwife called to let me know that I was pregnant again. Like you can keep a straight face through that!! The midwife had sent me for bloodwork after the positive pregnancy test since I'd just miscarried the month before at 7 1/2 weeks along. I hate this part of waiting until the 2nd trimester -- just as the rest of you, I'm sure. I get extreme morning sickness and am usually put on Zofran around 7-8 weeks. So hopefully, I can hide it from everyone! Maybe this one will be different!

I'm having a "sprinkle" today LOL.

My brother and his wife are in from Mo (they came for Grandma's funeral) and my SIL brought some baby things for me - including a crib!! They are on their way over now and bringing everything with them.

My DD (she's 12) -with the help of a couple of my friends- is planning a shower to celebrate the coming of her baby sister (she has 4 younger brothers). My SIL cannot come back from Missouri for the shower, so she brought stuff for Baby Girl since they were going to be in town anyway.

Best of all, they are also staying through to next week, and will be coming over here for a 4th of July cookout next Sunday!! YAY

Can you tell I love this Sis in Law? I hate that they live soooo far away, because I think we'd be at eachother's houses ALL THE TIME!!

I am so glad that both of my brothers picked wives that are good for them, and easy to get a long with!

So my SIL was here, and she does amateur photography so she took some photos of us.
