Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

I've had a few contractions/braxton hicks yesterday and today. Never had them this early with the other kids. Upped my water intake incase it's from not drinking enough water - but my Dh thinks it's from (family) stress.

Been just taking it easy today.

I'm sad to say I don't think I've had any? Is it normal not to? Or am I and I'm not realizing that's what it is? I have had some cramping but it's like a one or two time thing and then it goes away....very similar to period cramps or bad gas.

Could that be what it is?

Quail_Antwerp and Rarefeathers- Braxton Hicks are normal at our stages of pregnancy. I started having them around week 21 or 22 with this pregnancy and have them occasionally still at week 28. Its just the uterus doing 'warm ups' and nothing to worry about- unless they are painful and increase in frequency, especially if you drink water, go pee and have a lie down and still have them. I get them ALOT around the last month and i actually LOVE them since the closer you get to delivery, they can actually begin dialation of the cervix and so have forward progress without the pain! Always a good thing! But, really, dont worry about them unless your DR tells you to, they really are normal.

If you arent sure what they are, they feel like your belly (uterus) is getting hard and really tight, can take your breath away, and then the hardness goes away. They can last a few seconds or a minute. If they happen alot and you are before 35 weeks, definately go pee (an irritated bladder can bring on Braxton Hicks contractions)and drink water and try to lie down on your side for a few minutes. It can help to take pressure off your uterus, so relaxing/floating in a pool can help too. Try to keep your body temp cool as well. Call your DR if you get concerned, thats what s/he's there for.

Today was my 28 week Dr appt- all is well, except I am anemic and he wants me on supplemental iron. That does explain why Im so exhausted. I HATE iron pills!! They make me queasy and constipated- BLEAH!

Oh yeah, and Ive somehow managed to gain 30 pounds already! D'OH!!! Whoops! I was sooo planning on not getting as heavy this pregnancy, but I guess thats not gonna happen. I still have 12 weeks of weight gain to go! Somehow I always end up around 175 at delivery, and then it takes me at least a whole year to lose the extra weight. So, in an effort to keep myself on a better eating path, I am going to make myself be honest here and post my real starting weight and where I am at each Dr appt and hopefully at delivery day and the days after. One thing to look forward to is the 15 pounds I lose the day of delivery- thats always a boost and I get a baby too!!!

Here are the details-I am 5 foot 2, 34 years old this month, started this pregnancy at 128 lbs and am now 28 weeks along. My weight at the DR's office today was 158.9 (ooops, I guess Im closer to 159, but hey, Ill take any ounces off I can!! LOL) This is my sixth baby, and I really hope I am able to get back in shape after this one!

My little girl has that. It's called an EIF. Was it in the left ventricle, the right or both? There is a FB support group for this....did she get the quad screen done?

It was on the top (profile with the baby's nose up) She is being sent to a specialist to do a full heart scan. The tech said its probably nothing and all the cases she has seen has turned out to be nothing. Now the doc's nurse said that is why they are having it looked into further because there is a "something" not right. She is still calm and not to worried about it at this point. Her appointment for the scan is on the 20th so its a waiting game right now.

If it will make you feel better, my starting weight for this pregnancy was more than your current pregnant weight.

I'll post my starting weights and last weight at Dr. 2 weeks ago.

Details: i'm 5 foot 4, 32 years old (33 in December), starting weight 181. Weight at last appt 2 weeks ago (June 21) I weighed 191. UGH.

So after we have these babies should we consider starting a "Lose the Baby Weight" thread HAHA Like our own online support group???

I'd so like to get back in shape after Baby girl gets here.

As for the braxton hicks, I had them with my other pregnancies, but i don't remember having them before weeks 30-32. I'll be 29 weeks Friday, so I guess I'm getting closer to 30 weeks anyway. I felt better after chillaxing and drinking a couple glasses of water.

Also, if it makes you feel better my starting weight was around 145 and I'm 5'7". Right now I'm weighing in at 170 and I'm 22 weeks.... that's 25 pounds already. My mother had gestational diabetes when she was pregnant with me and my siblings. I don't want it to be true, but I think my sugar test will say that I have it, too. I just don't know where all the weight is coming from - I eat pretty healthy since the garden is coming off this time of the year.

I'm 31 weeks today and have had a few Braxton Hicks contractions so far. None have been painful in the least. And I usually only have one, maybe 2 in a day. Mainly only if I have been working hard. And I have been doing that since my nesting has kicked into overdrive in the past week too! Since last Thursday the whole back half of my house has been pretty much spit shined! No kidding, everything from floor to ceiling was either thrown away, cleaned an organized, washed, folded or put away. Then I rented a carpet shampoo'er and did the nursery, laundry room, our bedroom and the hall. I had every intention of doing the living room, but my batteries went dead....

Hubby didn't know what to think, he stayed the heck out my way until it was time to haul out a heavy trash bag!

But between the nursery, bathroom, laundry room and our bedroom, I managed to fill up 4, 55 gallon trash bags and a couple cardboard boxes with unworn clothing, and various other items that haven't been touched in years! It is amazing what 2 people can accumulate over 14 years!! I feel so much better knowing it's all gone. All that's left is my kitchen and the living room. And those 2 will be easy since they get lived in and cleaned routinely. Therefore stuff hasn't been piling up like the back half of the house that's mostly out of sight and out of mind for the most part except a fly by before work in the morning or bedtime at night! I wish there were some way to bottle this nesting hormone, I love it!!!!!!

And, since we are doing show and tell.... I was 162 starting weight at 5' 5". ( Well, 162 at my first doc appt at 9 weeks, so I could have already gained a little without realizing..) And weighed 185 at week 30. So 23 pounds gained so far. Maybe we do need a thread for loosing the baby weight. I was 145 last July. But when mom passed.... My weight started increasing. I was to stressed and sad so I didn't eat much. So it wasn't from overeating or anything. Just the stress of it all, I think. So I would really like to get back to 145!

my dd is 5'2" ... 33 weeks...start weight 102lbs ... last week she weighed 152lbs... she goes to the doctor tomorrow and we will get an updated weight...
