You are so right!

I know! LOL But if you fail (or are close to it like me)--let me know....I'll send you a list of all of the stuff I'm using to survive my carb & chocolate addiction during this trouble time!

I am!! I had a medela pump in style with my daughter and LOVED it!! If you want to pump and feed (no nursing), I would highly recommend getting a *really* good pump because it will be MUCH more comfortable. You might also look into a used Ameda "purely yours" pump - they are almost as good as the medela, if not as good, and the set-up is such that its not possible for the milk to get into the system and possibly pass infections (as rare as that probably is anyway). You'd just need a new set of tubes/bottles, etc (cost me $15 at target today). The Ameda would be the only brand of used breast pump I would personally get...

I would also go for a double pump... you don't have to use it as a double, you can always just use one side at a time (at least on my Medela).

And my unsolicited advice... if you physically can, nurse your baby! Pumping is MUCH harder, you'll have a much harder time developing a good supply and you lose out on a lot of the benefits of breastfeeding (like not lugging bottles around when you go out!). As long as you introduce a bottle around 6 weeks (or sooner), it'll be very doubtful that you'll ever have any trouble transitioning to the bottle. Also, more and more evidence is out there that "nipple confusion" is probably a whole lot of BS, at least for most babies. You'll likely only have a problem if you wait too long to introduce a bottle (and don't continue to make it a part of her routine).

AND you will be spending TWICE as much time "feeding" when you strictly pump. If you think about it- add the time spent pumping to the time spent holding a bottle and I can't imagine your backside will leave the couch for the first 6 weeks!

I didn't think about that...I just don't want to be strapped to the baby 24/7. My DH wants to feed & help and I'll have a full house with my mom & two sisters wanting to "help." So I thought it would be nice if I could pump and have bottles ready when needed....

I am not sure I'll make it to 39 weeks.

I woke up at 4am to two coyotes trying to break into the bantam coops and after we dealt with that, I laid back in bed and started having the worst cramps....it felt like my period, mixed with the churning guts when you're going to have an assplosion.

Which I did, twice...but I was in the fetal position until I drug myself out of bed and then it felt like my pelvis was in 10 pieces....and I had some of what felt like round ligament pain again...lots of pressure on my cervix when I stood up, too. No blood, no discharge....and I feel fine now.

I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow (36 weeks) and I know there's a crotch check involved, along with the Strep B test....so I'll talk to my doctor then...I'm just scared I'll end up on bed-rest for the next few weeks.

Welcome to the new expectant Mom's! We're happy to have you!

Well, I'm baking again today.

Blueberry and blackberry, and maybe apple pies. And zucchini bread. Plan to send it all to the sale tomorrow whoot! best part is, the berries are all fresh picked off our farm! Think I can push that as a selling point??? (apples aren't fresh picked sadly
