I meant to answer this earlier, but I forgot. I apologize! I've been having some trouble sleeping as well and here are some things I tried that seem to help:
1. If you eat a late supper, stay up for at least 2 hours after eating. It will be hard but it will keep you from tossing and turning when you have a full stomach of grocery. Plus, it helps prevent heartburn and indigestion.
2. No caffeine after 6. I found that if I drink something with caffeine in it after then, I'll have a super hard time sleeping that night.
3. If you are just laying in bed staring at the ceiling, get up and sit up on the couch and watch some TV. You will eventually get sleepy and get some rest on the couch. If you get up to go back to bed, it wakes you up just enough where you won't be able to go to sleep... again.
Another thing - I invested in one of those memory foam contour pillows. Sometimes I use it under my head, sometimes between my legs. I alternate between the foam and the downy type pillow until I can get comfortable. Oh, and if you get hot at night like I do, a fan works great for keeping you cool so you can sleep and giving you some white noise.
I'm to the point of trying the couch thing, good idea! Thank you!... caffeine surely isn't my problem, I could drink a two liter of Mt. Dew and go straight to sleep

I agree with Ms.FB! Would lovee if you sent some this way! Especially since I have to majorly work on the nursery and still am not really feeling up to messing with it!
Some of you may remember me telling you about refurbing my DH's family heirloom crib. Well, he finally got it all finished up earlier this week and I measured it today so I could go get a mattress for it. My jaw and heart hit the floor when I realized that no one makes a mattress to fit it anymore.
Every mattress I found in stores and online was at the very least, 3 1/2 inches too long and 2 inches too wide.. We wont even be able to squeeze one in.... Never did I think for one second that the size of a crib mattress would have changed for any reason. Good Grief!!! Why must things go awry?

We discussed foam, but hubby decided that he just didn't feel like it would be a good idea for safety reasons. Hygenic, firmness or something else I suppose...
Even though the heirloom one met most of the new regulations as far as the distance between the slats, it still had drop sides. So it's just as well I guess. Besides, it was his heirloom, so if he doesn't mind replacing it, I don't either. It was sort of unique with 2 foot tall finials on the four corners.. But that was all as far as looks. The rest favored one of the plain, non convertible cribs like they sell nowadays...
So now I'm thinking of getting one of these two...
This one looks sturdier, but costs more..

Any mattress company will make you one to fit! Do not panic!
Really? I wonder if they charge a rediculous price to do that... I'm off to Google... *poof*
When I was a kid, my parents decided I needed this gorgeous antique bed (no idea why). They had to have a mattress made to fit. I am sure it costs more than a regular mattress but if it means a lot to you or DH to use the crib, a little extra will be worth it. Do not forget, you will also have to make (or have made) fitted sheets to go with the mattress. If the do not fit properly they can be a suffocation hazard. GOOD LUCK!!
