Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

I had a c-section, bled for about 12 days or so but nothing worse than I normally get for menstruation.
and I next menstruated about 6 weeks after my baby's birthday, though I'm told this was probably delayed slightly due to my attempts to breast feed him and pumping for him.

hope this helps

DH and I ran by a yard sale this weekend, managed to find two sheet savers (in the colors that were on my registry!), a pair of black maternity pants, a pair of maternity jean shorts, the cutest capri outfit for baby girl, a sleep gown, and a bunch of onesies - all looking like they came straight from the store - and got it all for under $20!

What can I say, I'm a sucker for a good deal. And not to mention that I have some great coupons for Babies R Us, a gift card for them and a Target gift card that are just dying to be cashed in! Figure if I'm going to have to buy it, might as well snag it while I've got great coupons!

And it's been confirmed - baby shower will be September 24th! From 11am - 1pm.. We're doing a brunch for everyone. Although I wanted it to be light and just have snacking, the host quickly vetoed that idea, and there is no convincing that one other wise

..but I love her anyways!
Is it just me, or has the months been flying!? I should only be like a couple months pregnant at the most.. not seven!

No kidding! but I wish I had been buying those "other pads" all along as if I was still having a cycle, instead of trying to stock up a mere 6 wks before having her!

I plan to breastfeed, and don't usually have a cycle until I wean my babies. I hope that's the case this time, too, but I plan to start buying one package of those "other pads" a month so I have a nice stock for when my cycles pick up again.

I'm aware of the postpartum bleeding, but how long does it typically last? And because I'm not breastfeeding, will I resume my normal cycle as soon as I've delivered and my body has recuperated? ..I've heard it will come back with a vengeance

My bleeding lasted about 14 days or so with my DD - not too bad! It was heavy for a day or two, then slowed way down, and was not any more than spotting for the last week. If you're not breastfeeding, I would expect you to get your cycle back in 4-6 weeks or so. I can't say much more because I had an IUD put in 8 weeks post-partum and never got my period until I had it removed to get pregnant with this baby. The first cycle after the IUD removal wasn't bad though...

And I totally agree; this pregnancy has gone by SOO fast! I can't believe that I am now 3 days OVERDUE! I guess that's a good thing because otherwise I would probably be climbing the walls... the waiting game is starting to get to me a little bit. Every time a meeting comes up at work, or any sort of an event, I tell them that I'll be there "IF I'm still pregnant"... Everybody's been very understanding, but its starting to get to me that I can't make any hard and fast plans.

which is one plus to a scheduled c-section! I don't have to worry about being overdue!

but I'm sooooooo ready to be done. 35 more days. WHOOHOO!

Since we are on the lovely bleeding topic....is there a type/brand anyone would recommend? I am wanting to get a hospital bag ready and don't know what/how much to buy. I know I have a few months left but after my friend went 7.5 weeks early, I am wanting to plan ahead! Also, any other MUST HAVES for the hospital?

on the awesome yard sale score Mrs.K!! I can't pass up a deal either. That's why I had to stop going to yard sales very often.

I agree. The time has definitely flown by at warp speed. DH keeps telling everybody we just found out we were pregnant a month ago.. Silly man! But I have to admit, it sure seems like it was only a month ago. At the time, September 7th seemed like an eternity away. But now, as it closes in, it is starting to feel like it may slow down some. Or atleast it was feeling that way until my doctor appointment this morning. She informed me that now, we are justing waiting for my water to break or contractions to start.

That makes it sound so much more dramatic. When I will probably, in fact, be closer to or past my due date. Who knows, she will come whenever she is ready!

rilly10 I was told to get Kotex Overnight with wings. The hospital will give you their brand while you're there, but ladies I know say they aren't all that comfy. So, I am taking some of my own just in case that is true.
My hospital must haves:
My own PJ's, for after delivery (of course).
Fuzzy Slippers for pacing the halls if I am up to it.
Flip Flops for the shower, just because I don't trust public showers completely. :

My own soap, shampoo, conditoner, lotion, toothbrush, etc.
Some of DH's toiletries in case he wants a shower while there with me.
Clothes for both me and baby to go home in. Plus some extra onsies for baby pics at the hospital. I would feel awful if all of those pics had her in "property of" hospital issue gowns.

Make-up for after delivery. Just because it makes me feel so much better if I think I look better!

Nursing tops and bras.
My own menstrual pads.

That's all I have packed for now. And, it's probably all that is really necessary.

The only things I used at the hospital from my bag were: Robe, Slippers, Chapstick, Lotion, Netbook, Hair bands, deoderant, and going home clothes. The hospital even provided me with a toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, and bodywash. I had brought my own of all those, but just getting to the bathroom and taking a shower after a C-Section is a task all on it's own, so when I saw it all in the bathroom laid out for me, I didn't bother walking back across the room to get my own. Oh and of course Baby stuff... I didn't get to use any of Lukes stuff, but my situation was abnormal, lol.

Thanks guys that helps! So you don't actually need maternity pads? Overnight with wings are ok?

Those lists are sooo helpful! Thanks! Do you recommend anything for BF moms? Should I bring my pump, lanolin, anything like that?
I am clueless!

I am taking my lanolin, nothing more. I am pretty sure they can provide that stuff also. I'm just taking it as a backup. And I have heard they give you a manual pump if needed. May just depend on which hospital you're at though. Once you get close to your due date, take a tour of Labor & Delivery. You can always ask them what sort of things they provide.
