Congratulations! Praying everything goes well for baby Isabella...

Please forgive me for not catching up on what is happening to everybody else, but I have a chance to give a quick update on baby Isabella.

She is still in the NICU with breathing problems, but she's getting better and her chest x-rays show that as well. The Dr says she should be going home in a week. In the meantime, we are staying at a courtesy house here in town since we are a hour and 15 min drive 1-way from the hospital. They are wonderful here... but we are still not very well rested. We can't keep our days straight at this point. It feels like it's been much much longer than 2 days since she arrived.

I had my strep test Monday and my results came back positive Wednesday morning when I was starting labor. So, I was put on antibiotics immediately in my IV full-blast. They make your veins feel like they are on fire when they are that strong. Because I was positive and we didn't find out until my water had already broken, Isabella has gotten 4 rounds of antibiotic also and they are screening her for infections. She really congested and her nose is inflammed from the canula, but otherwise she's doing well. It's a good thing babies can't remember all that happens to them. She's been stuck and probed every 4 hours.

As for me, I'm doing well. My back is what is suffering. My water broke around 3 am and by 4 pm I was having extremely hard contractions where I felt like I was going to pass out with each one. I was checked twice and each time I was 0% effaced and dilated to a 1. Yes, one. My OB had told me to call him when I could not stand the pain any longer and that's what I did - he ordered my epidural. Well, the anethelogist (pardon the spelling) was on an emergency and couldn't come up for another HOUR. By that time I was exhausted physically and emotionally since they had "promised" me my epidural once I could no longer take the pain... they told me that since I wasn't dilated. Well, after waiting another 3.5 hours for my epidural, he finally came up. After 3 attempts, I finally had my relief. Within 20 minutes, I was dilated to a 7 and 90% effaced!!! Another 10 minutes and I was ready. So, roughly within 45 minutes of the epidural, Isabella was here. I had about 3 contractions and pushed a good 10 times and that was it. OB was expecting me to take a while to push her out since it took so long for me to finally dilate. Guess she should him!

I'm attempting to pump breastmilk and I'm having some kind of success... my first pumping resulted in 15 mLs, but I've deceased that amount since then. At last attempt, I was only able to get a few drops.

We have requested that the lactation specialist come see us as soon as she returns back to work after the weekend.

Ok, if you've read all that - bless your heart! And thanks for the support and prayers.

I haven't been on much lately...just lurking a lot. Here is my bub two weeks ago, though. We paid for a gender scan because we knew it would help us bond with this little one. We lost our last early on, and it took a long time to get pregnant, so feeling that this was really happening was tough. We get our anatomy scan on the 21st, and we'll get another video then.

Get from Fenugreek and pump 8+ times a day....at least, that's what my doctor told me. I'm only getting about 1oz per day now, though....despite all of my efforts. I think my lack of milk was caused by all of the time in the hospital and the steroids I was on to prevent seizures...
