Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

Thanks everyone and Congratulations to the others. This was a surprise baby but I can't wait for her/him to be here. The waiting is the hardest part. I am taking a different path with this one. I am having a midwife and planning on a homebirth. I hope all goes as planned.

Welcome and congratulations to all the newbies!!

And Sebrightmom, surprises are the best!! I wish you the best with a home birth. I looked into it briefly when I found out that midwifery is an illegal practice in Alabama..

I see two midwives, but will deliver at the hospital. I had a midwife with my second and it was an awesome experience! I think homebirths are neat and I like the idea of it, but my hubby would never go for it.

Best wishes to you!

Best wishes to you!

For this first baby, we are seeing mixed practice of midwives and doctors and will deliver at the local hospital. I am leaning towards subsequent births at home, but I am up against a mess-a-phobe type of husband

And I think we all know that birthing MAY cause a little mess

I have not mentioned home birthing to him yet, I figure I should let him realize he will survive the first birth in a hospital then drop the bomb on him

Hey ladies -- just wondering if you don't mind sharing. Will any of you NOT be circumcising your baby boy? We are leaving our baby intact. Just interested/curious about it. Don't have to know reasoning behind doing it or not doing it from anybody. Thanks!

My son did. It was aweful. If this baby is a boy I don't think we are going to do it again. Two of my dear friends didn't have any of their boys done. After talking with them, I don't understand why it is done in the first place.

We do-I worked in a nursing home and the men who were not circumcised got infections quite often. Men who were circumcised very seldom did (if ever-I can't remember ANY that did). It didn't seem to matter whether they took care of themselves or whether the nursing staff did. I know it is a long time till that part of life, but in my experience it is cleaner and healthier. I have also read several articles that say wives of uncircumcised men have a much greater risk of cervical cancer.
