Expectant parent club! Where the pregnant people hang out.

My midwives gave me a check sheet to help me figure out what I wanted. The biggest thing is figure out what is important to you. But don't make it too complicated. If you want music you could bring the radio and put someone in charge of it.

My basics were:
-I want to room kept dim, I want people to stay quiet
-I want to be able to move around. Only possible if you don't do an epidural. I had a key word set up. If I said I wanted drugs I also had to say the key word so hubby would know I'm thinking not just yelling for it. I never even asked.
-I want the room with a shower if possible.
-I want to push with contractions on my own not have people bark at me. One lady said to me when I was catching my breath between contractions, your supposed to be pushing on contractions not breathing through them. I looked at her and said I'm not having a contraction. I think it was when the baby was rotating.
-I want to leave the cord until it quits pulsing (this one did go out the window, I had mecconium in the water)
-No Heb B, No Eye goob (I don't have STDs this isn't needed), No Vit K (I supplemented my diet prior to delivery and the shot is linked to leukemia and other things)
-I want to breastfeed as soon as possible
-I want the baby to remain with one of us the entire time

I had also looked into what I wanted if I had to have a section. Like I wanted at least one hand free, I wanted to watch baby born, etc

If you google birth plan you will see a lot think about what is important to you and go from there.

We have our hospital's Family Place tour tonight where we get to learn all about where we will deliver. Getting excited for this baby! Here is a picture of me today at 27 weeks

on babycenter.com there is a good worksheet that outlines what you want and dont want, I filled it out and handed it to the triage nurse as soon as I got there. The nurse was happy about it too, I thought they would think...oh geez, another one of these people...but that was not the case.
As far as planning for labor....

I had all sorts of plans and the only one that stuck was Shane was with me the whole time, he roomed with me and I only let him go to the nursery when I showered. The labor was so fast, I wanted to nurse him right away but they wouldn't let me cause I had retained my placenta and had to go directly to surgery. That was the worst part, having to leave my new baby and family to go under anesthesia...I only spent a few minutes with Shane and was rushed into the OR. I was so worried that I would die under anesthesia and not be there for my new family. As soon as I woke up I told the nurses to go tell my husband that I lived. I think they got a chuckle out of that, but they wouldn't even do that until I fully recovered cause my blood pressure was awful. I spent 2 hours waiting for my blood pressure to get back to an acceptable level. I woke up, saw the monitor and said to the nurse that I didn't think you could be conscious and have a blood pressure that low.

anyway, I digress, Plan what you will, but don't be upset when it doesn't go as you expect or want it to. I wanted an epidural...no time for that! I am thankful that I got to experience labor as nature intended.

Good luck, you look fabulous!

Just got back from the blood draw and then my 28w appointment. There drink was not too terrible but I did get pretty nauseous soon after it. I am feeling better now. Baby's heart rate was great at 132. Lots of crazy movement these days. Sometimes my whole belly shakes from side to side when there are jumping jacks going on in there

I've gained 26 lbs so far, thinking it is not going to be easy to not gain too much more with the holidays making me fatter by the second! I've been upgraded to having appointments ever 2 weeks now. Holy cow! I'm really having a baby?!
