I'm not sure about natural broody hens and their work, but really, don't worry about how long you let them settle, I think it's more important if you got some eggs in the mail. They've probably just been sitting in the cooler at the store for a while anyway, so if the air sacks are jostled, they've probably settled as much as they're gonna. It's just most important to get them to room temperature, then incubate, brood on 'em (termanology ?? LOL)
Good luck, just finished day 14 on mine and candled, and they were all still wiggly little things! Have my fingers crossed that they all come through! My husband keep saying "don't count your chickens before they hatch" to me LOL. 'cause I keep count'in em! I keep saying... hope all 6 eggs hatch..., I hope at least 3 will be hens, maybe I'll get lucky and have 4??? LOL
