Extreme Speckly Egg contest!!! Winner receives 2011 BYC calendar!!!

I do not, because I do not wash my eggs. However, mineral oil has been used for decades by people that do. A lot of factory eggs that are rinsed in a chlorine bath are then coated with mineral oil 'to replace the bloom' before being packed into cartons.

It was dark speckley and it hatched out a fuzzy... I think that makes it EXTRA CUTE.... Nothing like a fuzzy spotted egg!!! THe spots are really dark and kinda hard to see.. This is the only picture I could find of it.

The hen was 2 years old, marans and a picture of her.

I just ran across a photo of an egg that I would like to share with all of my speckled egg lovin' friends here. I am not posting this photo to be judged, just for fun.

This was given to me last year by one of my Welsummer hens who may have had some sort of fungal issue going on as her earlobes turned white for about a week and so did her eggs. Center of photo. Crazy, but it was pretty!

WOW! White earlobes = white speckly egg? Interesting! I'll post a few more speckly egg pics I have just for fun shortly!
