Extremely swollen foot!! Bumblefoot, scaly leg mites, or something else!?

I just noticed that one of my chickens has an extremely swollen foot. I feel awful for not noticing sooner but she doesn’t appear to be limping or anything that I can see and her other foot is completely fine. She does seem to have a little bit of a hard time balancing on the roost with it though.

I think some of my chickens might have scaly leg mites too if it could be a bad case of that?? I’ve treated several times before with castor oil but some still appear to have it so planning on treating again soon. I’ve never done consecutive days.

But I guess my question is do you think this could be a bad case of scaly leg mites or do you think it is bumblefoot or possibly something else???

I just pulled her off the roost to check the bottom of the foot and I don’t see a bumble or infection or anything?? Maybe I’m missing something?? What else could cause her foot to be so swollen?

I just feel awful and want to treat it as soon as possible.

Well as can't see a picture of problem foot, I would do the 10-15 minute epsom salt soak then a through examination of the foot. It could be an injury, bumblefoot or any number of things.
do they have a softened landing when they get off the roost? even a short distance on to a hard surface can cause a sprain or fracture

But thank you, I will try that.

And yeah, I have a pretty thick layer of shavings in the coop but some of them roost in the rafters and just use the roosts as a step up and down from them. Although she is pretty low ranking and I think usually roosts on the low roosts or in the nest boxes so she really doesn’t jump down on the hard roost.

The soak will make her feel better, but I'm betting on sprain or break. gonna tag some that are better as i've only dealt with bumble foot.

Can you look back through your pictures and see how long it has been swollen?
Have you taken any pics recently?
