eye discharge

One of my 7 ducks is a Cayuga and I recently noticed she has some discharge out of both eyes. It appeared hardened and the clump of discharge fell off on her left eye. Her right eye still has a clump of dried discharge stuck there....hoping it will fall off soon. She and her 6 ducks appear very healthy other than this issue. Anyone out there with a Cayuga have a similar experience?

Yes - plenty of deep pans and a pool for bathing.

You might try a Tablespoon of ACV in a gallon of water for head dunking get the one with the mother in it so if she drinks it she'll get the beneficial bacteria it provides. Some eye issues can be corrected using this. If it doesn't clear up in a few days get Terramycin eye ointment TSC has it. Some times eye discharge can mean respiratory or sinus so keep a close watch.

Miss Lydia, for some reason I don’t have a notification for this thread. I went back and looked. I hate it when it does that.

I would get the eye ointment from TSC. Honestly if it were mine, I would put some neosporin ointment on it first because TSC is a long drive.

I have put ACV in their waterers before - but for head dunking? It won't burn their eyes?

No not at that dose. 1 Tab per gallon of water I have tried it doesn't burn at all. and it's a good tonic also.

Respiratory issues or other illnesses can cause that to happen.
