trisomy 21 is down syndrome. it means that instead of having 2 copies of the 21st chromosome, they have three

and you can't test for autism, that usually only appears at around a year or two after the baby is born.

anyway, congrats monarc, and sleep while you still can

Get ready for the ride of your life! Enjoy your time with your hubby now, because when you have a little one you don't get that much time alone anymore. That is the one thing that I miss (well-that and a good night's sleep

)! There is nothing that makes a person feel more mature than seeing that new little person, and knowing that YOU are the one responsible for training him or her to be a responsible, well-behaved, respectable member of society.

I honestly am not worried about having alone time with hubby, we actually plan to co-sleep with baby. At first in a co-sleeper and then when its a bit older in bed with us (not forever just while still ....BFing)

. Hubby has his time and i have mine, and I already gave him leway to go hunting when I wont be able to this upcoming season and fishing... though trout season opens up like teh day before my due date and he says he's not going lol. I feel bad but hey that's life! Hehe! Atleast he knows the babies more important than fish

Hubby and I aren't the sort of couple that goes out and parties, and is glued to the mall and all that good stuff. Basically we stick around the house, doing yard work, tending to the animals, house work, hunting, fishing lol all the normal adult stuff.

My mom has said even when we were teenagers that he and I act like an old couple

I won't be hunting and fishing for a few years but that's fine, laws and license prices are changing anyhow and peeving me

I've already downsized my birdies too to make time for baby. I'm all in this

I'm enjoying it so far but people keep dropping the miscarriage bomb on me even my own mother.

First of all CONGRATS!!!

Secondly do not fret about miscarrying. If you are already feeling morning sickness that is great! That means your HCG (preg. hormones) are probably doubling every 3 days like they should.
Ginger is great and so is peppermint to help with upset stomach and heartburn.
Again CONGRATS!!!

People are going to say a TON of really stupid things from now until this child is 18 or so. Your best bet is to learn selective hearing.

A couple of things, no, tums can't cause birth effects and there is heart burn nothing else will touch. It was my best friend through all 3 pregnancies. An amniocentesis (ugh sp?) is NOT jabbing your baby with a needle and is sometimes necessary. I had to have one because we needed to get my baby out and wanted to be sure his lungs were mature. They use ultrasound to carefully avoid sticking the baby. Listen to your body. If you are very in tune with it you will most likely KNOW the gender of your child. I knew from the beginning with all 3.

Good luck and enjoy your pregnancy!
