Fairy Tail Farms English Orpingtons

Pics
Any (hopefully good) updates?
Not that you can tell, but I cleaned the barn up some over the weekend. (Drat I just realized I missed spraying them for mites on Tuesday...ughhh) Anyway, cleaned off the dropping boards and the concrete slabs. Sprayed everything down with some cool water for them to enjoy the breeze and cool off. Everyone got fed and watered and new hay for their nest boxes.

Here's where the geese are supposed to be....

And here is where they are currently in my backyard due to the bobcat issue I'm still having...

And here are the new bantam pens I'm working on. Each pen is 12ft x 5ft. The back 4ft will be enclosed with metal sides and a roof for them to roost and keep their nests and feed dry. The whole thing will be done in hardware cloth and metal to keep snakes and other critters out. Once these are done the big open area to the left will have 10 x 20 versions for the large fowl Orpingtons to be in. This way everyone can be safe from the bobcat. And snakes. The hardware cloth and netting is en route from Amazon, and I'll get the lumber and sheet metal next. I'm not looking forward to building the doors/gates on these though.

Did the bobcat problem get solved?
Not officially. But she hasn't made an appearance in months either.
You had/were going to get lemon blue cochins, right?
I have some.
He has some nice lemon blues!
They are cuties. I have four eggs in the incubator. We'll see if they are fertile. I've never seen the cockerel mate and their eggs have always been clear. If I don't get any chicks between now and December, I'm going to have to find another male.

Do they breed true? Or do you get blacks and splash lemons if you breed two blues together? I'm wanting to get some next spring (especially if you're selling then too) and want to figure our what makes what before I suddenly have them cheering at me

Their color behaves like any other Andalusian Blue gene-based bird. You'll get Black, Blue, and Splash. For whatever reason, the Blacks are called Brown-Reds, which is DUMB. But I don't make the rules. The Splash females hardly show any Lemon at all.
