The shows are few and far between. As in, distance. Next one is at the end of October (last of the year) in London, On, and I don't feel like driving all the way out there with rabbits I know don't have a chance of winning, and certainly not just to watch.I would go to a few shows without any stock so that you can just observe. That is the best way to learn.
Are you going to concentrate on Castor Rex? It’s a good basic colour, and you can always add variety such as broken pattern. I always enjoyed the Castor broken patterns, and had a few really nice Does.
Are you able to get to any Fall Fairs there are almost always rabbit classes at most of the bigger Fairs.
Coccidia is hard to get away from, since there are so many strains, even from one yard to another...I need to trim them back so they can see, I put them at around 7 weeks - the guy I got them from didn’t know their age.
Then they turned up sick coughing here at home, so they have been on Tylosin and sulphatrim (looked like they also had start of coccidia), and the one had a few doses of Tylenol for fever and general malaise. I threw everything at them - at that young an age they can die real fast.
Anywhoooo today I put them in one of my horses’ stalls (who has passed away), just to get them out of the crate - they had a blast digging through hay straw and bedding, running and flapping wings. But I need to trim their top knots so they can see better.
I hope you are ok Wind.Coccidia is hard to get away from, since there are so many strains, even from one yard to another...
Glad they're doing better, but that was pretty bad of someone selling sick birds. My friend got a new buck at the rabbit show, and it has a nasty respiratory infection. And she paid $100 for him! So, always quarantine new animals, folks!
I haven't escaped the curse of falling down. Couple of days ago, I was going downstairs to bed and stepped on my black cat. Grabbed the banister but still managed to pull muscles all over. Back still hurts, and my leg. Stoopid black cat.![]()
Still sore in spots, but okay overall. <3I hope you are ok Wind.![]()

I want to concentrate more on tricolours, as well as ambers. But the castor was too good a deal for me to pass on. She's supposed to be a great foster mom too, and I can certainly use that, just in case. My buns have been throwing *really* large litters! Nice to have an extra doe to toss kits at if need be.
