Falling Down Heights, my daily life

Congratulations, new babies are always fun 🄰🄰
Thankies! Be more fun if they were here.

Two more does have been bred, due in a month. Both are only split to Rex, but I'm using them to improve size, as well as towards my making tri-colours.

Are there any plans in the near future for your endeavours? I would think you should be fine with keeping rabbits most anywhere.

A friend who lived right in town, had hers in a lovely 10x10 shed her hubby made for her; she and I both had Netherland dwarfs.

She had a small outdoor run for them to run around in. Her pens in the shed had drop down doors so she had easy access for feeding, handling and daily poop scoops. She had solid floors rather than wire.

I went to solid floors also as the wire was hard on their heals causing sores. Easier to scoop poops too. And easier for babies to get around. I also had a small 8x10 shed my dad put up for me.

Technically, I can't have more than 5 rabbits in Ottawa, unless I'm in the rurals. But, what they don't know won't hurt me! :D

Still unsure when I'll be able to get a place. I'll be looking for something with either unfinished space in the basement, or a garage. Thinking garage would be better, so far as mess.

My cages are still wire bottoms, but I'm thinking of maybe making solid ones in the future. I still put tons of straw in there to help with their feet, as well as rest pads in most of them. Rex are prone to sore hocks.

Here's a pic I took of Bumblebee today! I was trying to pose her, and she pulled her head out from under my hand leading to the funny eye look!

She has such interesting fur! Not long, but not short, and very soft. I've never seen this before, and am now tempted to develop it as a new breed, lol!

Please ignore my original post; it appears that I am incapable of noticing the difference between Canadian place names beginning with the same letter.

There are provincial restrictions addressing flock size? That's crazy! In my experience, with everyday things like this, the farther away, both geographically and representatively, the governing body is for issuing regulations (not laws), the less likely they are to have a single clue about day-to-day realities in one's backyard and neighborhood.

I don't understand why Toronto should have any voice (or even care) about the number of critters someone owns in
(goes to Google Maps, because I'm in the US) White River.

Ottawa is a city, Ontario is the province. :)

Easy to confuse.

I am a bit confused here but maybe I’ll try to clarify for both of us šŸ˜‰

Ottawa is a city (Canada’s - the country’s - capital) CWind is living in Ottawa city limits which has restrictions on the quantities of animals (dog, cats, rabbits, etc….) a person can keep on their premises.

Toronto is a city (Ontario, the province’s capital). Also has animal number restrictions. Now surprisingly enough certain areas in Toronto allow people to keep up to 4 or 5 hens. Go figure!

Oh FYI Ottawa is also in Ontario- little tribal pursuit fact šŸ‘

The country (Canada) and the provinces do not have any say in a municipality’s bi-laws, each municipality has their own set of them, and enforces them with their bi-law officers.

For instance in Calgary Alberta they also cannot keep poultry. And the same sort of bi-law restrictions with keeping animals. The province of Alberta doesn’t write Calgary’s bi-laws, Calgary does.

Hope that’s clear as mud šŸ˜‰šŸ‘

This is likley very similar to you down there in the States.

UK and the rest of Europe, Australia, Denmark, Norway, Ireland also similar set up with bi-laws.

Now if only I can get the town here to allow hens! There is a petition put forth so here is hoping next Spring they will set a new bi-law allowing people to keep up to 5 hens šŸ˜ŠšŸ‘

OK, I knew this. I just misread; truly. Hey, they both begin with O!!

One of my daughters, a physician, has been going on for multiple years now about moving to Canada with her physician friends, and asked me to do research on the environmental issues in various areas. (One of the risks of going back to school to get the BSc in Ecology šŸ™„.) Ottawa is the capital of Canada (and in Ontario), Toronto is the capital of Ontario. I got it halfway right, I guess. herp derp

Ok I am going to ask but you can clobber me if you like - is your daughter an environmentalist?

Asks the woman who loves her pipeline and mining jobs 🤭. And actually the amt of environmental care taken there is far more than one sees in any big city…. Like Ottawa šŸ˜†

Lots of environmentalist jobs in the mining and energy sector here.
