Wow! Yay!, rooster! If anyone is bored while waiting for BH to post the next breed, here is a video of a rooster eating a cobra-
The bird difference that has me most shocked is the RIR. Never in my wildest dreams did I realize the SOP birds were SO dark. They are beautiful!Hatchery birds aren't bad and probably most chicken owners have had or have hatchery birds. I do show my birds so I breed to the SOP.

I saw RIRs at our state fair this year and was quite surprised at their color. The heritage birds are beautiful! To me, RIR, NHR, Red Sexlink... any red chicken that comes out of the hatchery all look alike. I just call them Random Red Chickens. The bird difference that has me most shocked is the RIR. I remember back when I was younger, I got my first chicks as RIR's from a feed store. I looked up pictures of the real deal and was soo excited when I saw the dark red birds in the pictures. In reality, my RIR's grew up to be ginger in color. I have yet now to do an upgrade lol. Those rich ones are soo rare in Canada. So, I still have my hatchery RIR's and they lay well, so what's the point of getting rid of themThe bird difference that has me most shocked is the RIR.
