Hi! This may be my first time here, but i have two frizzled birds, red bantams. One of them is just a prefect little cutie frizzle, the other not so much(no she’s cute but just a little funky looking) but they’re rather sweet.

On the red frizzled Cochin bantams, how can you sex them? Normally if I saw darker red on the wing patches, I would guess male. But with the frizzled feathers, I can’t see well enough whether there are patches or not. It’s comb is pinking up a little bit, but not nearly to the extent I would expect a cockerel to.

It’s really hard to sex frizzles! I have no answers just sympathy! I have a frizzled Polish chicken that i go back and forth over gender constantly! I THINK she’s a she but no eggs yet, all her feathers seem pointy, and she has a beard so no wattles to help either! So annoying

Someone that bought hatching eggs from me sent me this picture of one of the boys that hatched. He is an Ameraucana/Marans frizzle!

Also I rehomed my main rooster that I adored who turned on me but it has meant poor Ms Frizzle has had almost a full month reprieve from mating and she’s FINALLY starting to get new feathers. She’s also been molting poor girl!

Someone that bought hatching eggs from me sent me this picture of one of the boys that hatched. He is an Ameraucana/Marans frizzle!

Oh I have such mixed emotions when they send a grow out pic of a baby I sold!!!
I know we can't keep em all...but I wanna!!!

I've not ever had one do a full molt...I'll think they are dieing! Poor babies!!! When they go through a big molt like that do you have to give them heat if it is during winter time? I know ya don't this time of year but does it affect them other times of the year when it is that drastic?
