didnt catch anything last night. I locked up all the chickens which meant pulling a few out of trees.

one of my broodies ditched her eggs after like 2 days so I'm cooking them up for the hens

oh man so the hen that rejected her nest - I had moved her in the middle of the night and put her eggs in a milk crate and then her on top of them with a towel and brought her into a pen so she'd be safe & otherwise she literally would have been killed because whatever that thing is showed up that night. & the next afternoon she was off the nest and it was cold so I wrote them eggs off as dead. and left her in there for safety. added another chicken in with her last night for their safety...and let those two out today because they're accustomed to free ranging and I was too lazy to set up food and water and she went right back to where her nest WAS in the bushes. she just didnt understand that the milk crate nest was hers.

Last year we had 10, but they died. But this year we caught 3 swarms and this is the 4th one.
