First calf of the season! Little Brock the Brockle faced baldy bull! Mamas name is Clementine who just came to the farm with 7 other cows 3 weeks ago! 24 more calves and everyone will have calved except for the two open cows!

Calf is so cute. I need to post some pictures of our bottle fed calf. Probably a video too because it's funny when she plays. She sometimes hits the chain link fence and she just shakes it off and looks around. We believe her vision is not all that great though because she will run into all sorts of things unless it moves or if it's really close she'll try to stop.

Ok. Well just to let you know it will be at least 8+ years before I can expand my peafowl flock.
Might be 8+ years before I have enough space to have peacocks the rate I'm going.

Although, I hear people say they're loud. Would it be enough to annoy me? Like if I was in my house or on the deck and trying to listen to music or having a party or whatever (unlikely but ya know) would they be heard over it, interrupting? Hahah

If so, maybe I'll move them to a far corner.. planning on lots and lots and lots of acres

I don't know why anyone would find their noise making annoying?? lol I suppose, if you don't have lots of love for animals, it might get annoying. Personally, I love hearing their calls and all other noises they make. Yes, they're loud, but like Birdrain said, they don't do it all day long. And they're loudest during mating season. I haven't heard a peep from our 3 birds all winter, but now that the weather has suddenly warmed up so much, I hear the male quite often.

In the summer, when the farm is quiet and everyone has gone home for the day, when it's nice out and I have the windows open, I love hearing their random calls. It's peaceful...and makes you feel like you're in the jungle.

The biggest bonus are the magnificent feathers the males drop at the end of the breeding season!

If it's going to be 8+ years before you can get peafowl then you'll have probably 14 varieties to choose from. Like this.

I personally love animals but I guess I was more concerned it'd be the kind you can't talk over. Like you know how some poorly behaved parrots scream and scream and scream for attention and you're on the phone or trying to talk to someone and that's all you can hear? That's what I was worried it would be like. But from the sounds of it it sounds like they're not. Plus feeling like you're in the jungle is a nice touch lol

We have one of those poorly behaved parrots here at the farm, he lives in the tack store. The most annoying thing I ever met. He only likes the store manager and will attack anyone and everyone else. He screams all day long, just not a nice guy.

But he was also a rescue, and wasn't treated right to begin with. I personally still don't think that the tack store is the right living environment for him.
