:thumbsup Hope you won't need to, but glad to hear you will if needed. They sometimes can be inconclusive, but I know I always feel better knowing I did everything in my power to figure out what went wrong.

Yes, I would have felt better just to have a definitive answer. I think it was genetic linked, due to the only loss being the two sisters

On another note, this is the SF cockerel I have, at least until the eggs I have in Lockdown grow out.
Any critiques? I'dlove to hear what I need to work on, what I need to look for in roosters...

I like him! Very nice..... I don't know how to explain this but I'll try! My roos are a little lower or heavier right in the front. Your guy has the appearance of standing very erect, in the 2nd and 3rd pic - from his beard to his leg is a relatively straight line.
- Not that it's good or bad, just built a little different than my guys.....

He has nice clean hackles and feathering along the legs - and his comb is really good.... I can make out his toes in 2 pics, they look good from what I can see! Thanks for sharing the pics!

Good bird nice size. Only two things I would like to see more of more burnt orange in the shoulder and the mahogany to run as far down the back as possible

Thank you. He is getting pretty big, he's the first SF roo I have seen in person, and I didn't realize how big they got! Makes me love them even more.
So, when breeding for better color, what do I look for in a hen to make improvements? It seems as it is harder that with my Cochins and BCM as body type and coloring are much more similar in those breeds!

What you're trying to say Rita is that this guy needs to be deeper in the keel. ;)

Never bred from a hen with black in the beard. This will force you into two lines males and females. The black is hard to get rid of. Darker hens will produce better cockerals though. Be careful!!
