Faverolles Thread

Im so glad I finally did it (trim his muff under his eyes). He seems so much more confident now. I had no idea it was as bad as it was for him. He is such a sweet boy, not aggressive at all. Unfortunately the others seem to realize that about him (none of them are Faverolles). I just want him to have a fair chance at taking care of himself and now it seems he does.
Here he is before the trim

He looks like Santa Claus now with the trim as the under-muff fur is white. Its like he has little white cheeks!

Pasofino, Lobzi - Gorgeous specimens!! Anyone here have photos of LF Blue Salmon Faverolles? I hear they do exist. . . Unless I just saw one

Yes here is a pic of my boy Eggbert. He is nondominant and gets his beard plucked regularly so is showing off some wattle... One of these days I isolate him long enough to let his very heavy beard grow out to get a better picture

But he is all that for being a Blue Salmon LF and since that was your request...her is is!

For those of you who remember guessing about whether my blue chick was a hen or roo, here's an update. Looks like it's a rooster. Sorry, not the best picture. He's the one on the left.

Faverolle eggs are on the way! My 9 year olf daughter Gabby is so eggcited that her eggs are in transit. We ordered 18 bantam faverolle eggs fromHat Trick Silkies. She also has a dozen pyncheon eggs coming today from hinkjc. We have the bator all ready and hoping the kid can have good luck with the eggs. First time shipping eggs in but she has had great luck with incubating eggs from her own girls.

I have a four week old salmon faverolle chick that is pure white, the person who sold me eggs had a white faverolle and I was wondering if some of the pullets start out this way and then get some salmon shading or if I am looking at chick that will grow into a white faverolle.

Anybody have experience with this.

If the person had a white faverolles the rooster could have been carrying the white gene and when bred over the white hen he would have produced some white chicks and it woudl also work the other way around. So there is a possability that you have a white chick but it will probably get salmon shading later on. I haven't had the experiance of having a pullet start out white and color in later on but others may have.

My Black faverolles pair should get here nest week along with my first chicks from the Dick Bourlanger hen covered by the Leisha cock. I will post pictures whne they arrive. I am going to breed them again after this week and collect only her eggs try and get 6+ of them in the bator. Then I will mate him to my best blue salmon hen from hattrick and the the Bourlanger pullet and then the leisha hen. SO I will probably set two dozen eggs in the next month or two. I will also be setting blacks when I get the pair settled in. Its going to be 100% faverolles chicks here for the rest of the spring. I am still looking for two Lavender D'uccles rooster!

How are everyones fav breeding projects and their favs in general doing?

Henry
