Same here! You don't realize how much hard work and commitment there is till you read a book like that. Think I'll stick with acre and a half and my little banty flock!

14* out this morning but the girls are doin good. Gettin only one egg a day now...oh well.

Thank you for allowing me to get her from you! She has been an absolute joy! Also the boys too! Even though if Squiggy isn't quite right in the head! LOL JK...he just gets confused sometimes!

Hey Melissa!!! I've been wondering about you and what you've been up to! Great to see you on here!!!

Great to see you too! Man alive what a rough summer with the Texas drought and the fires. We had literally months of days over 100. We just almost threw in the towel... all our neighbors did, sending livestock to the stockyards in droves.

We have managed to hold on. Amazingly we only lost about a dozen chickens to heat and smoke. The cows, calves, goats, kids, pig and piglets, horses and foal all survived which is better than most can say. Our pastures are scorched and may never be the same... dead trees everywhere... No farming is not for the faint hearted.

Wow! Sorry to hear you had it so rough!! I knew there were droughts down that way, but didn't know about all of it... So glad you were able to hang on to most everybody! What a heartbreak for so many...
