Planning on getting my first standard Salmon Faverolles this spring. I read that the roo's are less likely to be aggressive than some other breeds so I'm going to try a roo too. My husband is worried about the noise (I'd suppose I am too), so we'll see how it goes. The order goes in tomorrow!

From Ideal. I've heard mixed reviews about them, so I'll keep my fingers crossed that my experience is good. They are certainly cheaper than MyPetChicken, where I got my other gals!

Can any of the Faverolle experts give me some info on Catalpa Farms. I recall years back that they raised some quality Faverolles and then that they had stoped breeding. I saw that they had bantam Faverolle eggs available, wondering what you know about their birds. They are in Illinois and I am hoping to find a few nice Faverolles, just have one older girl right now. Any insight?

I saw that they had bantam Faverolle eggs available, wondering what you know about their birds. They are in Illinois and I am hoping to find a few nice Faverolles, just have one older girl right now. Any insight?

Catalpa Farms got bantam eggs from me years ago. I didn't know they still had bantams.

Just be aware that it's the luck of the draw with hatchery birds, and I don't just mean with what they look like. The single meanest hen I have ever encountered is a hatchery salmon Faverolles. I do not know which hatchery she came from, but she's MEAN. I can't touch her without long sleeves and leather gloves....so my point is, don't judge all Faverolles roosters based on one that comes from a hatchery...

I hatched a batch of bantams from them this year, spent a lot of money, and ended up not keeping anything that hatched....
