so...do you have a roo for her named Monarch?!

here's one of my crazy mixed up chickies! Raven, i think she is polish crossed with silkie somewhere since she has completely black legs with 5 toes. her earlobes are white but i've been seeing a hint of blue lately. this is last year's pic but she has matured nicely! the breeder i got her egg from had a pic of Houdans on their listing and the egg size would be appropriate for that breed! she lays very large, white eggs almost every day for me! he only has one feather that has a white tip too!

eta: i hatched her from eggs that were listed as pure polish, i did not buy her from a breeder as a started bird.

She is so cool!

she's pretty much my 'watch' chicken. since she is one of the tallest and can fully see around her puff she has the advantage of seeing anything going on around her! she is always on the lookout for things going on outside the coop. if i bring treats she is the first to be right there waiting-hopping up and down trying to beat the others to it! got to keep track of your fingertips when feeding her treats by hand, she can get overly excited! my neighbor really likes to get her to 'talk' when she's pacing along the run area. she's pretty much my 'head' chicken

i really want to cross her with my bantam polish roo Chickie but he doesn't seem to know what to do with any other chicken i've tried to put him in with except chase them away. sweet boy to me but not very nice to other chickens unless he has his space.

that flaming red EE x Blue Orp is gorgeous! i have a blue cochin x EE that i've been thinking will be a roo. he/she has those red feathers starting to come in on it's wing bows. i just wish i could keep another sweet roo!

I don't have them yet, but I'm counting on hatching some silkie x faverolles. Poor thinking on my part. I only took 2 Faverolles to a show, my main boy and girl, and left two girls at home with 2 mature silkie boys. They started crowing and chasing the girls the day after I took the main rooster away. At least it'll be interesting!

when you're chickies hatch come on over to the faverolles thread and show them off. we have a few of the top breeders over there and one has been loving the crosses that show lots of the fav characteristics! especially if it can help pull in a different color to work with!
