Thank you for your kind words. This occured about 4pm but Bobcats can and do hunt during the day. Bobcats have large ranges so I am hoping this one has moved on. I have had my flock for almost 10 years, never have lost one to a bobcat and as I said, they free range when I am home, probably 4-5 hours a day. Many evenings, they put themselves away and I follow close behind to lock them up. I do think this one was passing through and since he did not get a meal, I hope he has moved on. Have not seen him since Sunday nor have I heard my flock sounding an alarm during the day (they have been enclosed in their pen for the time being)I am so sorry for your loss. I hate to be indelicate, but I would like to ask a question as we recently spotted a bobcat on our property and I too, free range my flock. What time of day did this happen? I guess I was under the impression that bobcats mainly hunted at dusk, but it doesn't sound like that was the case.
Again, I am truly sorry.
