From the pics - - - ( if the lighting isn't playing tricks ) it looks like one BLACK and two BLUE marans.
My Blues looked lighter from the very beginning and that is what I am basing my opinion on.

Keeping my fingers crossed that you have a few more chicks - -

.

Any idea why the other has the intestinal stuff on its butt ? Is it kinda normal or not?

Day 24. Two more Marans out of the eggs. One I helped last night and the other came out when I was sleeping. One Marans is zipping and I think will make it. The rest of the eggs are without any pips. I think this is really the end of the hatch. That will increase the Marans to 6/6 hatched!!!! 2/8 broken by the Post Office!!!

I guess I should not count the one still in the egg but I can see a big hole and his beak...

Math ace,

I think I have 2 blues and 3 blacks but I'm not in the room so I really don't know for sure.

I did try and help the other chick out but should not have. When I got him out, he had a little yolk sack that is attatched to him. I now am worried that he will not make it. I upped the humidity to 78% and I hope that he just sits still enough not to damage it and for him to absorb the rest of it... I really should have left him in the shell today but the last one I helped needed it as the membranes were sticking to him and preventing him from turning in the shell.

So, Derrick do you think the last one to arrive to the party is a "MALE" ?

I thought it was women who had the reputation for taking too long to get ready ! ! !

Math Ace,

I only got the one Welsummer to hatch but Whitmore Farms is being very nice and sending me some more due to the damage done on shipping and the poor hatch rate. I am sending them some shipping costs.

Fay,

Thank you so much for the offer to send some more eggs out. I will keep that in mind for the near future.....

Derrick

Thanks for sharing your hatch! I has been interesting and fun to follow along. I had some columbian wyandotte eggs shipped to me last fall and had my neighbor hatch them but none hatched. I don't know if it was my neighbors fault or just the hazards of shipping. None of the eggs were broken when they arrived, I guess they may not have even been fertile.
It was sad:(

I wish you luck with the next batch!

Thanks again. It is very exciting to follow along on these posts!
