Feather Fixer ~ Good for molting hen(s)?

The pellets are the same width or slightly smaller than the All Flock & they are much shorter. They look larger in the picture, but they are pretty small.

Are the crumblets smaller than this? I want to say they are almost like half a pellet.

The crumblette was thinner but these look good. My Silkies should do good with this, I am going to get a bag of this i just opened my nutrena all flock so it will be about a month. I just got the Seramas they are eating the feather fixer I’m going to see how they do I might have to get a crumble for them. My Silkies won’t eat crumble even my Silkie chicks move them selves to the pellets in the feeders at about 6 weeks old they ignore the chick crumble feeder. Poulin grain has a layer in the crumblette but I have so many not laying with roosters, broody, and juveniles I haven’t inquired about it as I’m sure it’s more expensive as it’s soy free and I have to special order my feed store doesn’t stock it routinely.

Oh ya and poulin grain customer service was really good too. I sent a question about guaranteed analysis for vitamins they don’t list like D,E and selenium a few others I think to compare with nutrena and they sent me the information right away.

Actually my store does stock the 18% Poulin no soy layer, but I haven't tried it. I prefer to use organic & use the Green Mountain soy free. I was so glad that this feed store started carrying both a few months ago. Mostly we just have Purina around here. I like the GM because it has fish meal in it & I am just supplementing my chickens thru molt right now & feeding a couple guineas I have left. I so wish organic feed would be higher in protein in the layer version, because I prefer pellets, but I understand the added cost would probably not work. I know GM actually has a turkey finisher that is 21%, but my store does not stock that. I am anxious to see how this works, but I really like the look & smell of it.

Question- I have 1 bantam cockerel in with them... I haven’t seen him mate (or attempt to mate) with her, should I take him out or leave him?

Unless he's causing trouble, I would leave him with the group. If he attempts to mate with any molting bird, then remove him.

I can't say if it works or not because I am not observant but I add Black Oil Sunflower Seeds (BOSS) to their scratch grains to encourage healthy looking feathers and feather growth. I heard people use it for show chickens and Rabbits for a better pelt. Sometimes I add generic walmart brand economy bird seed mix, but when feathers are looking rough I add BOSS all alone to the scratch grains. I don't have the worlds best chickens but they have nice looking feathers ever since I started adding it.

oh yeah WARNING: Bird Seed in scratch grains attracts wild birds that people with strict biosecurity may be concerned about (I ain't one of them folk)
