We purchased the Frying Pan special from Meyer Hatchery. We figured we'd keep 2 of the roos for our roo-less flock but didn't count on not being able to tell what they were at all. :) We'd like to socialize a few to pick which to keep but they are all a mystery as to what exactly they are. Of the 30 or so roos, about 7 look like this fella. He has feathered legs and out of all the chickens that we've seen on the Meyer website, we thought maybe Blue Splash Maran since they can come in black splash as well as blue splash.
What do you all think?

Yes he is a Brahmas either light or dark. I own the light Brahmas from there. Mine looks like a little owl so I would say yours is a little darker then mine so pushing more to the dark. But other then that there are the same. I didn't know if your picture was darker then it should be or not. He is a keeper for sure. Mine is so sweet. I don't no what sex mine is yet got on May 28th from MM hatchery.

Mine are all roos and don't mind showing off like them even as young as they are.

I only see that they sell the buff brahmas. Would this be a buff? His buddies have more feathers than he and they are all white and black. They are loosing their sweet fuzz and all I see is white and black feathers. His comb isn't as long as some of the other breeds and is still quite small. The feathers on his legs are white and black as well.

Here is a picture of my Lt, Brahmas (It's name is Snowy Owl)
and here is a picture of my Mottled Cochin. (Speckles)

Hope that helps you My were taken with a Nikon D90 Camera so colors are perfect on the chicks!

This is a picture, again taken with my phone (sorry) when we first opened their box the majority of the mystery roos (the roo under question) are the grey and black and they had yellow on their little faces. Hope this helps.

and if anyone knows right off what the others are... that would be helpful, as well. ;) The others weren't feather legged.
The two little speckled brown ones, like the one with his eyes closed, didn't make it. :(
The one brown towards the bottom of the picture (there are a few of him) have huge combs already and DARK speckled wings. They like to team up on me when I open the hatch to the coop. Two will jump up on either side of the hole and then jump out when I can't chase after both at the same time. I'm 9 months pregnant. It's not a fair fight.
