Hi again,

My little chick who was poorly on New Year's Eve is losing her feathers.
She has been isolated from the other 5 chicks and can be reintroduced on the 13 January .
Do you think this is a late moult or stress from being isolated.
She hasn't laid an egg since she was sick.
She is no longer sick, she's eating and drinking normal.
I made sure that she is close to the others of a day, there is only chicken wire separating them of a day and at night the coops are near each other.

Thanks xx

Depending on her age, she may be due for a molt (the first taking place around 18 months old, then yearly thereafter,) but any kind of extreme stress can put them into a molt early. They also will sometimes stop laying after an illness for a time.

Hi,
Thank you for replying.

She is 18 months old this month!!!

She is an ex battery hen and has been through a lot but has been really happy since being at my home lol

Only another 5 days and I can reintroduce her back to the other chicks.

Thanks again xxx
