feathers

Thanks for bringing up this topic, as I was in the pen today, collecting eyes, I also was trying to figure out what to do with all of the other beautiful little feathers.

Excellent ear rings and painted feathers!!!
My feathers are reserved for a lady in Arkansas that makes fairy houses out of gourds & brooms out out of broom corn. Sorry, dont have any mutant variety colors yet! I also believe that price is a great buy...

Thanks everyone.

Last year, I supplied a friend's art gallery with earrings much like yours. He charged $75 a pair, and the same price for a feather brooch. I just shook my head and kept making the jewelry. Very lucrative! Here's an article I wrote for Peafowl Today, the UPA magazine. There are tons of ways to use those gorgeous feathers. Just today, I was contacted about feathers for wedding bouquets. You can sell your wares on eBay or etsy.com; lots of people go out of their way to support handmade items and local artists. And I'm certainly not an artist!

Look @ claires in the mall, think they are about $12 a pr for earrings. I would say $8 is a bargain. You could always do 2 pr for $10. How much time is it taking you & what do the post cost? Did you hotglue them?

I don't make anything out of feathers but I have 11&13 yr old girls. Local girl does hair bows. She has exclusive rights to several craft fairs for bows. We bought LOTS of bows from her long before having peafowl. Once we got peafowl took some feathers to her to make my kids bows. She now gives me bow credit for each feather. Keeps my girls in hair bows yr round plus plenty for gifts. Been thinking about keeping another boy just for more feathers! Will try to post pics of bows tomorrow. Kids are sleeping & they are in their bedrooms.

Yep. I was thinking now about $8 for the ones that I posted the picture and making some with beads and a few smaller feathers mixed in for $12.
They are wired not hot glued. For the ones I made so far, I was thinking my cost was .10 per earring for the hardware. I did buy a little tool to make it
easier. Over all, not much for expenses. This is my first time doing anything like this. I have already gotten some really great ideas. Iwill post pictures as I go
along.

That is so cool.. Heck I might just make myself some earrings to wear.. Seeing my pen is full of feathers.. Not a tail feather left on my peas....
