Hey all, I have 18 eggs from a mixed flock of Americana and black copper Marans due on the 24. This is my second attempt, my first attempt ended badly. I tried setting 18 store bought free range eggs, turned out 17 were infertile and I had 1 that stopped developing around day 12 or so

Temps are holding fairly steady in my home made incubator and I am using some local eggs this time so I'm hoping for something

Think you will do well this time . Zero hatch rates make you feel badly instead of excited and happy. That is truly unusal to get local eggs and have the hatch rate so bad.
Usually its shipped eggs that hatch low or no chicks.

i have 7 lavender Ameraucana eggs and 12 salmon favorelles in bator now do to hatch on the 19th and one standard chochin cant wait to see these guys candled tonight and all looks well

I should be setting some Lav Ameraucana too in a few days
They were just shipped. Last hatch of them got just one pullet and 2 cockrels. Hoping for some more pullets

Im also setting Seremas Sort of had to take them to get the others. They will be so cute but hate to get into some little birds that are more for being cute than eggs. but wanted to someday anyway.

HI. I have about 40 in the bator set to hatch around the 19th/20th. Silkies and german New Hampshires. All are developing nicely thus far on day 5.

Hi everyone,

This is also my first hatching and raising chickens! I have about 10 eggs due to hatch Feb.6/7. I Just candled the first time last night, and I saw that a couple of the eggs were dark and appeared to be floating to the top of the egg. Is it a bad egg? Thanks for any feedback.

i beleave dark eggs that late in incubation is a good thing good luck
