Question fellow hatchers:
So I have 15 fluff butts that are super healthy that is the great news, but there are 4 more that are pipped that are just kind of chillin. I followed the instructions on the "Should I assist the chick" info page and took some tweezers and gently started chipping small peices of the shell away. When I did this I noticed all the chicks still have a lot of veining in the membrane so I put them back in the incubator with a warm paper towel around them to keep them moist. Does this mean the yolk is still absorbing and they just need time? Or am I probably going to need to assist them one way or another since they aren't already out (It is the end of day 22 and all have been pipped for atleast 12 hours).

it can take anywere from 12 to 24 hrs when hatching

I think I worded my question wrong. Because I helped them by chipping away the shell am I now going to have to help them out the rest of the way later when they are ready?

Once you have started, good idea to keep on going...just go slow..you have probably found the page that Sally put up..it's a great place to get help from. :)

... I got a pipper at 9 am & she still isn't zipped all the way!!! She seems lethargic. I go in about every 20 minutes to talk to her & she stirs & wiggles, but I'm getting worried about her. She's breathing. Do I need to sit on my hands? I'm going to be up all night worrying about this one! Everybody please tell my Emma to chop chop!!!

No you may not have to. I have made the pip bigger on some that I thought were taking too long and they hatched just fine by themselves. I will usually do this after about 18-20 hours if they don't make any progress. I want to make sure that the pip is big enough so that I know they can breathe.
