5 pips! No arrivals yet. I pulled a little membrane on my troublesome one as he hadn't progressed at all other than the initial pip, and the way I discovered him I'm not sure if he could have on his own. He was in such an odd position as is the second pip. It's head is tucked inward between it's legs and I can see it hit a small vein when it pipped wrong but has dried and stopped so I'll be watching that one closely as well. The other 3 have pipped where they should, thank goodness.

Lucky all your 55 Flowery Hens are girls! I’ve heard great things about this breed. You should be able to tell if your Hedemora have silkied feathers by about six days of age by looking at the feathering coming in on it’s wings.
Pictures below are from my Polkies which can be either silkied or smooth feathered.
Should be the same for the Hedemoras

Thanks!!!! That’s going to be so helpful! I know a ton of people have silkies in my area but the main reason for my breed project is to breed something hardy and I feel like silked feathers plus dampness don’t agree. Same reason I’m not crazy about the feather legs.

First pip is still absorbing, second pip I had to assist. I looked at my camera and a foot was sticking out the pip hole. She is mostly out! Third pip passed at some point from pip to this morning and Two more are zipping.

3 are out and almost a 4th. I'm so happy! Here are the two that I got in the camera frame, both of the assisted eggs.

Yes, @LadiesAndJane is correct, but I found with hedemoras I could tell only two days after hatch quite easily. You can upload photos of the wings here and we can help!

Okay question time. I only see it on this one, is this normal? I'm not sure what I'm looking at, this chick was unassisted.

Looks like it may be some unabsorbed yoke. Hard to tell. I would just leave it in the incubator and see how it does.

Lol im beginning to think I may just make my own thread to follow these babies grow up rather than taking over this one talking about my breeding plans haha so that's definitely going in there. Luckily it won't be hard to find a home for any silkies ones. Sounds like they are VERY desirable lol I just don't have any need.

On another stage note, there is one Ayam Cemeni x EE egg in there that I basically wrote off from the beginning. It was developing but after a while it got very hard to candle but I left it in anyways. It was from an order of 6 eggs that arrived with severely detached air cells and after resting them for 24 hours only two looked good enough to put in the Bator and only one made it to lockdown. It was due yesterday with the rest (I have a staggered hatch so there are some other Fayoumi eggs in there too) and I have a ring camera set up to creep on the incubator. I just checked it and its been wobbling!!! (im at work) Im flabbergasted. I know it was a possibility but I still just can't believe it!
