Congratulations they’re adorableSo hatch day is complete for me… So far. I have a few more due on the weekend. But it’s a pretty solid turnout. 3/4 55 flowery (all girls), 3/3 hedemora, 3/3 Isbar (2 still drying in the incubator), 1/2 Svarthona, 2/3 fayoumiX, and 0/1 ACxEE.

The one I had was a pullet egg too. She was a slow starter as well. I was scared we were gonna lose her but now she’s up & running around just fineRemind me, we’re these shipped eggs?
Not uncommon. In my case it was pullet eggs.
It’s either an Isbar or a hedemora. Hedemoras could be any color and their traits aren’t visible until they’re adults and greenfire says their isbars range in blue color. It does have feathered legs though so I’m not sure which of the two breeds Carrie’s that trait. It’s definitely not any of the others. That one is so pretty but I really don’t want feathered legs for my breed project

Depends on a bunch of factors… if it’s a rooster, definitely not lol. If it’s a hen, probably. If it’s a wooly (even a hen), definitely not. I’m hoping that the svart hona is a rooster. Yep I said it. If the Svarthona is a hen, I have someone near me that said I could take his Svarthona roo whenever I was ready lol. The fayoumi x silkieX chicks have little fibro so I think that’ll be a better way to breed it in. They are also MUCH friendlier than the purebred fayoumi chicks last year. The rooster I kept is super chill and has traits I don’t really want (feathered legs, 5 toes, beard) but I figured it would at least chill out the fayoumi blood so I’m hopeful that worked. The two chicks that have hatched have partially feathered legs but I’d like to get back to clean legs. We have hot summers and mild (low teens) WET winters (like right now the ground is totally saturated right now; working on cover cropping this year but it’s the first winter in our new house). The d’uccles are suffering (ok not suffering lol but not doing as well as I would like) and their coop has the best drainage. That being said the coops will have an even better draining setup for next year not that I know. So I suppose to answer the question about that chick, it depends how the legs feather out. Everyone will eventually be bred back to fayoumi. I guess I need to do more research into the genetics of that. So far both fayoumi chicks have feathered legs and one has 5 toes on one leg. I’ll post pics in a bit. Now that the other Isbar chicks have hatched I can tell them all apart lol
