February 2022 Hatch-A-Long

How early is too early to suspect wry neck? The poor little serama wants to move around but can't really hold his head up at all. I've placed him on a dry rag to try and keep him from going to his back which he has a couple times now and he is by himself currently so he doesn't get ran over. I've given a couple drops of save a chick but I want to give him the best chance. I've read vitamin e but I don't have any vitamin e on hand, only vitamin e beauty oil. Is there anything else I could possibly use that I might have around the house?

Did the chick just hatch? Sometimes it takes a moment for them to gain their bearings after hatch. The fluid that builds up in the muscle on the back of their neck can make them especially wobbly if it doesn't go down quickly. It's not a problem, just a matter of time.

Now, if the chick was once stable and started doing this well after hatch then it wouldn't be the above.

I'll post the poor little serama after his fate is a little more certain. :(

He came out like that, it's been a few hours since he emerged. In general, he seems kind of weak. He tries to move and launches himself because of his little neck and head.
