February 2022 Hatch-A-Long

Pics
I haven’t checked them yet. I didn’t want to pop open the incubator too many times since I have chicks actively hatching. One of the three in question has now pipped, so I am holding out hope for the other 2. Chick number 3 is now out ❤️

Yeah just give em time...some r pretty slow lol

So, my Bantam Cochins scrambled the eggs they were sitting on again. They just get too overzealous in turning them and fighting over them.
My Marans on the other hand are doing an amazing job getting the eggs to term. I candled them and just had to pull one. They hatched out 2 but my Peachick killed 1. So I moved the Peachick to one of the Peafowl barns.
I had given my Cochin the Marans chick, and since she had hatched that Peachick too my husband thought maybe she was jealous. I don't know about that...

Would it make a difference that they are pullet eggs? I hatched a few last year with no problem, but did notice on the eggs from these pullets that the shell is quite thick.
Mine were pullets eggs so not sure...
First Hatch they were the first to hatch. 2nd hatch I had a couple much slower so more experienced hatcher will need to chime in.

Eggs are due to hatch on Thursday!!

Can someone help me out though? 😂😂

So if I set the eggs 3 weeks ago this Thursday at, say, around 6:30 in the evening, is day 21 up this Thursday at 6:30 P.M.?

I'm using a NR360, and it says 4 days till hatch, so is Wednesday night through Thursday night day 21 counted as 0? In other words, do I unplug the turner now and put them in lockdown? When do I raise the humidity? Thanks!!

Had to take a few out (although I did swap some out on day 3) now here’s the current count based on the original shipment:

Greenfire Eggs:
1/2 Svarthona (Swedish Black Hen)
4/4 55 Flowery
3/3 Isbar
3/3 Hedemora

eBay Seller:
1/6 Ayam Cemani x Easter Egger

My farm:
7/11 Egyptian Fayoumi x Green Queen (roo)

Some of these may be MF d’Uccle x Green Queen Bantam… the Millies started laying in the nest the fayoumis had and the eggs are damn near identical.

I’m especially curious about the fayoumi eggs. The rooster is a hatchery hybrid but I’m pretty sure he is silkie (5 toes, black skin, mulberry comb, black iridescent feathers with some leakage), EE Bantam (beard and supposedly colored egg genes) and maybe d’uccle (beard and slightly feathered feet) or bantam Cochin. He’s definitely not the rooster I would choose for my breed project BUT he’s very calm and wimpy (despite growing up with the fayoumis) so I’m hoping his chicks will calm down the fayoumi blood.

ALSO since we have an abundance of duck eggs I decided to see if my ducks wanted to go broody so I stopped collecting eggs and this morning on of my welsh harlequin girls was sitting on one of the nests and did not want to get up lol. Hatch date for those would be around Feb 19! It’ll be her first brood (none of them have hatched out before) so I know I may have to remove them and I’m prepared for that but so excited! I have an NR360 as well. When there is 3 days left to hatch the turner will automatically stop so you don't have to unplug it. I always just trust the incubator as to what day it is, lol

😌:love

My eggs are finished. I candled the remaining and no movement. Just went in the air cell to check on most of them (not all, too many). Three had internally pipped then died, which was sad to see. The others def for the most part were nowhere near ready to hatch. Probably too late in the season to try again.
:(:(
