February hatch-a-long 2018

Oh ok that is awesome... I thought maybe the membrane was stuck to the shell or something. This time I candled I could almost see the heart beating, and I can't imagine losing one at this stage (even though there's 3 more weeks to go). 3 of them are still empty, so I'm guessing they're infertile but I'll still going to give them another few days.

Just put in 12 BCM and 6 welsummers on Tuesday night. First time ever trying, im somewhat nervously excited.

Hi BYC friends, this is my first time incubating chicken eggs in my homemade coolerbator. Due date is 17 February 2018- on day 13 at the moment. Getting excited and anxious at the same time. Not sure what is more nerve wracking getting married, going to the dentist or waiting for the first pip?

Definitely waiting for that pip!!! And the anxiety doesn't end there! But it's worth it in the end. Be prepared for lots of hovering as you wait for 'something' to happen.

I have 24 in the bator now, due in 2 weeks (2/19). I'll be candling tonight to see how many are viable and weighing to see if humidity needs to go down. It's my first time

I have 30 in on staggered hatches and the first 7 look good, I think? It's my first time too. I am researching quite a bit to find out if the air cells are growing well or not. I have read so many different techniques for humidity. I'd love to compare photos? Not sure about size. The difference between growing well and being too big or too small looks very tiny.
I have 2 silkies and 3 welsummers and one easter egger and one buff brahma due to hatch on the 16th.

Yes! I love her site. I am subscribed to her hatch email and have her book on my kindle.
