FEBRUARY Hatch-A-Long, come join in!!

I agree - your chicks should look totally different.

To answer your other question - I use cross-stitch plastic from the craft section at any store. You can cut it to size and make several different compartments in your hatcher. I wire them together with bread ties.

I often use an H configuration. In that you can have 4 hatching pens to keep 4 different sets of chicks separated.

Oh I am so egggssscited!!! I bought a new 45 lumens flashlight tonight to see if it would make any difference - it does!!!! I have baby chicks moving around in all but two of the 30 NH eggs I set on the 15th.....this is so neat...I could see their eyes and it must be their hearts on quite a few. Some of the shells are quite dark brown but I could see the babies in them. Oh, now I am getting so anxious...this is so neat! The next 11 to 12 days are going to be so hard for me. I am like a little kid at Christmas time!! WooooHOOOOO!!!!

Well, we don't have the silkie eggs for the set this weekend, but we will be setting sunday night around midnight. We are shooting for a Valentine's Day hatch. Our oval participants include: 5 Sebright, 2 EE, and 5 Mystery Eggs (parentage/pedigree unknown).

That's very cool ... I really wanted a Valentines day hatch but you know how it is , I just couldn't wait another second to try my hand at incubating *smile*

Thanks for sharing, you could allways use ducktape or electrical tape over the falshing light.

I would, but it is my mother's camera, and she would hurt me... I think I just need to go through the manual and find out how to shut it off...

Have two small batches due in February.

#1 Batch

5 Delaware eggs, due Feb. 7

#2 Batch

7 BBS Orpingtons
2 Delawares
1 Delaware x EE Due Feb. 13

ETA: So far this year, the BBS Orps have not been developing, though they do appear fertile. Not sure what's up with that, but I wouldn't be surprised if none of those grew.

I put 8 eggs under a Blue Wheaten Ameraucana broody tonight.

3 FBCMs
2 EEs... (3/4ths BWA,1/4th BSL)
3 W/BW Ameraucanas

I tried to break her for two or three days but she is determined, so I just gave up and put the eggs under her.
