Got the first shell pip of the fridge trio


Another chick has internally pipped, but not broken shell yet.
Tomorrow is the expected hatch day for them

Hard lesson to learn though. This is my fifth hatching, its finally sinking in. Six new chicks so far, five eggs still in the incubator (four of which I'm confident in). No progress, I'm going to bed. They'll come out when they are ready.

Number Seven just came out, now i'm wide awake again.

Two more mutts and an external pip. When it escapes, that will be the last of the ten (of 12 originally) that I'm confident in. Will do an assisted hatching (or, more likely, eggtopsy) on number 11 late today or early tomorrow if I continue to see no progress and no movement, then sanitize the incubator and start again.

14 hrs after first pip. This is my mutt, I will know who the dad was as feathers come. Or maybe not, mom was a LO ya think?

First baby to pip out of round 2 was still stuck in the same position this morning, so I gave a little assistance, just enough that baby could get out of the egg on its own. Seems a bit weak, but is getting stronger as time passes, so I'm hopeful still.

The other baby hatched about 15 hours after pipping, close to midnight last night. A Fawn Silver Duckwing male The cage was to keep him from getting tumbled around by the other one because I expected it to hatch first.

He's fluffy this morning, so I moved him to the brooder. The baby that hatched last week is not pleased with her new roommate.
