february hatch along

Guys... none of the other 5 eggs have pipped yet, so little Friday is still lonely:confused:
I don’t know why they haven’t started yet, because yesterday I heard on of the chicks peeping in it’s shell. Now when I put any of them up to my ear, I hear nothing Or maybe faint pecking? Does anyone know why the other five are so late?

Are these the eggs that are on day 21 today (I remember you saying something about some being set on a different day)? Also, when you set the eggs, did you start counting day 1 - 24 hours after you set the eggs? If your temp was a little low it could cause them to hatch a little late. It could have been a little cooler in some spots in your incubator. Just some thoughts...I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!!:fl

It is day 22 for two of the eggs and day 21 for the other 3. Also, I’m actually using a broody hen to hatch these eggs, so I’m not exactly sure what could be the problem.:(

Usually a broody will roll eggs out from under her if they aren't viable, at least that is what I've seen my sister-in- laws girls do (none of mine have gone broody). Did your hen take long breaks during the day?

Hm, well she did have to eggs kind of rolled to the edge of her feathers... and also I haven’t seen her take any breaks

I know this is frustrating...sorry.:hugs...just hang in there! I'm not a proponent of assisting when it comes to hatching, I let nature take its course. Others may have a different opinion and could guide you through taking a peek in the air cell, if that is something you'd feel comfortable doing. If you go that route, you may want to fire up your incubator just in case you need it. Keep us posted!

Alright, I will! Thanks for the help! :)

View attachment 1274633 I have 2 of the same thermometers in incubator, but one was always running 2 degrees or so cooler than the other, even if I moved it around. Grr. I took it out of the incubator and replaced it with another one. hopefully they will read the same, I marked it and am going to use it as a room temp thermometer. Also my room was not 70. I turned on the heater to bring up room temp.

Just a thought...looks like that one thermometer has the degree marks on the plastic. Make sure the bulb is seated correctly in the holder. Up or down at all would affect the reading.
