Sadly you look like you broke the average in cockerels.I agree except I think Cuprous is a cockerel because his wings are slow to feather in (I had one like that) and his big legs. Sad because he looks like a beautiful bird. I question Chweeper (lean towards pullet) and Dib.

Here are my February babies, hatched Feb. 4th and 5th, photo taken at about 2 weeks old:

And here they are today, just moved into their Camp Cockerel, at 9 weeks old. Bunches of boys in this group! The few girls, 4 or 5 of them, will be moved into the main flock soon, but the boys - 20-21 of them - have a different destiny:

Yeah Cuprous is throwing me off... Was the first one to get wing feathers, but the legs are starting to thicken up and the comb has a little bit of color... The fact that they are all likely crosses doesn't aid in identifying them either

The option is still there to smuggle him (if he is a him, as I imagine you'd keep Cuprous if it's a female) into Canada ;)

Okay, laying off the joke now.

Yup. Barnyard mix does make it tough as some breeds have a bigger comb, etc. Hard to know what parantage they are picking up. Behavior helps too. Mine that was slow to feather was really small at first but acted confrontational from the start. He was also a lighter color chick than the one other chick that had the same markings. In hindsight that was a tell, but I didn't know what hens laid what eggs with him so didn't know it.

A lot of ppl say wing sexing isnt accurate but i have always done it and i get a 90% accuracy a lot of the time, I dont get it. Only time it didnt work is when i thought a hen of mine was a roo for a long time because she developed slowly and had a roosters wing shape until she was a little older.

Update on younger march hatchlings:
I think i have two roosters!
But its okay ill probably keep them anyways, somehow someway.
I let them out today:

More pictures soon!
The 2 roosters,
The barred cochin (I think, he's cuddly, but will fight your hand, is the biggest, and stands tall.)

My 10 Sussex bantams were SR. I figured I'd get at least 5&5. Or, maybe at least 3-4 pullets.

Nope.

They're six weeks old, and it appears that I have 8 cockerels and 2 pullets.
:hit

(check them out here: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/speckled-sussex-bantams-sex.1571432/post-26719829)

I don't want to get another SR, I am leery of getting 8 more cockerels.

So I went online to see what sexed bantams might be available. I looked for docile breeds. I found Barred Rock, Easter Eggers, and Dominique but none were available until late summer, if at all. I added my email to the "notify me when these become available".

Struck out...oh well.

Then, within an hour I got an email... Dominiques were available on April 12th, this week! I ordered 5 females. ETA is Thursday through Saturday.
:ya

Now I will be cleaning out and setting up the brooder and MHP inside the coop.

I'm excited!
:celebrate
