Feeding Wild Birds

Pics
I put out an orange for the orioles this morning since my suets are running low. I have at least one pair that's been happily munching on them all day :) I hope they stick around. The past couple years, they would come for a few days then leave but these ones seem to be enjoying the banquet.

Good day for watching birds but a tough day for getting confirming pics. The Bullock's Oriole showed up today.

Also showing their faces were

Gray Catbird
Spotted Towhee
Least Flycatcher ?
Common Yellowthroat Warbler
Yellow Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler

I live on the East coast, New Jersey to be specific. I have lived in the same home for 54 years and have fed the wild birds that entire time. This year populations are at an all time low. I would guess somewhere around 20 % of what normally feed here and at a wildlife club where I also feed. I was wondering if anyone else has noted a similar decrease in wild bird populations. I know that West Nile hit here fairly hard last year. Perhaps that is what caused the reduction ?
It may be a result of bird flu. I haven't noticed a drop in my area, but have been considering taking my feeder down because of the chance of affecting my chickens, just in case. Aphis.usda.gov
