Feeding Wild Birds

The first ducks returning to the river. Best I can do with a phone camera for photo. They are on the other side of the river. Looks like mama and papa looking for their nesting area. Beyond this bank is a slough where many ducks and geese make their nests.

Looking at the breeds of ducks that frequent Washington and have their young in this area, DH and I think this is the one. It is the Bufflehead. This female looks black and white, and it may be shadows on the river, but she seems more brown to us.

I posted this in another thread, so I'm just quoting it here. I believe this is the breed of the pair we are seeing today.
 
We got a couple pictures of the pigeons. They do look like the Band Tail pigeons.

Here's one picture of pigeons hanging out with the Stellar Jays.

Can't get close to them and using a phone camera, so not the best photo quality, but I think you can see them okay.

I want to catch them flying in. Their tails are so pretty.
