Feeding Wild Birds

Better than the window
Some years back, I heard a loud hit on the window and found a dazed Red-tailed hawk below it.

Another time I found another kestrel dead on the ground where it had hit the garden fence while going after something.

Yet another time I saw a small hawk slam on the brakes just before it was going to hit the kitchen window while going after a house sparrow. It looked shocked when it saw me.

I had a adult eagle fly under the telephone lines and pull up right before the picture window. I was thinking it was going to hit.
I have several woodpeckers that hit and recovered

I'm going to say, I am sure! windows kill more birds than cats do.
Not where I live. In my neighbourhood there is one cat that lives in the house behind us, two cats living next door to our left, two cats living in the house across the road, and one really good hunting cat living three doors down. Always birds being caught by these cats... on a daily basis. I also think the birds in the suburbs are more wise to windows?

I think here in the forest, when the sun is on the windows, they reflect the forest and the poor birds think they are flying through more trees. It is so disturbing to me. I don't really want little decals all over my windows, but I did buy them. Just haven't put them on because they are not so "invisible" as they advertise. We have birds fly into them 2 or 3 times a year. They don't usually die, but they have.
