feeding your chickens...chicken??

I can't think! To many answers! ;) Thanks again everyone! Every post on this thread was a :goodpost:!

P.S. I'm still not sure....

Sure. They are omnivores and appreciate the protein. I’ve fed my flock some of their flock mates that we butchered, but (as cockerels) were too stringy for the humans to enjoy. The leftovers were chopped finely and the living flock enjoyed. Gone in about 10 seconds flat. We don’t go out of our way to feed them chicken, but we do give them leftover proteins- why waste it?

I don't think it would hurt them but it grosses me out so I wouldn't do it. That being said I have no problems feeding chicks scrambled egg or mashed and boiled egg yolk as a supplemental treat.

Other than eggs and live or dried insects I don't feed my chickens any meat-based protein though.

Well, an egg is different. An egg isn't an animal, and never was an animal. Just like how milk isn't a cow.

It won't hurt your chickens to feed them cooked chicken meat. I'm fairly sure that even if they knew what it was, they wouldn't care- they ARE dinosaurs, after all, and can be vicious little things. But you certainly don't have to.
