Felix D, rising 2 year old Barockpinto colt-pics! - New pics on Page 2

He looks good. Told ya he would grow into his legs beautifully. While I think he will still make a nice harness horse his prospects as a dressage horse are sure starting to show.

He is so eager to please, it's a breeze to teach him anything though I'm going to college (better late than never) soon so I may just turn him out for a few years in the mountains until I have more time to work with him. We'll see how things go.

He is growing into himself so nicely now-you can almost see the incredible horse he's going to be one day. I took him for a walk the other day & he was very very fresh but I was tired & not up to running alongside him so I kept checking him & the next thing I know, he goes into the most beautiful passage & not just a step or two either

He was still moving too much for me & I wasn't trying out for highschool dressage so I continued to check him & then he went into a very passable piaffe

I actually stood there holding the lead rein in one hand fanning myself with the other

What a horse

I've had 3 people call this month to try to buy him from me when they saw him standing in his corral & a man who is desperate for me to cover his pretty grade mare but we'll see about that.

Update on Felix D!!!
I never knew the second partner who bred him & I've always been skeptical about his age so I was very excited when a friend of mine got the man's number for me. It turns out that Felix turned 2 in October which makes me a very happy lady

I was waiting until he had risen 2 to begin training him for harness & over the weekend I stuck a saddle on as I didn't have a driving surcingle & popped on the long reins. He took to it like he'd been doing it all his life though his steering still sucks a little

At the end of our session, I gingerly hopped on using a chair & rode him side saddle (legs unhooked obv) to the untacking area. What a horse

It's such a pity that mud season has truly began.
